"It's said that children see abnormalities. But we've seen and been them for our whole lives. Maybe we're the abnormalities; maybe we're the omens."Spiritualists comprise ten-to-fifteen percent of the world's population, cropping up as the result of the dawn of reishi into the world. The phenomenon that was their existence originated in different lands to boon historical figures - namely fighters, such as the fabled Guan Yu within Chinese culture, or vast array of popular swordsmen under the band of the Shinsengumi. They are the progenitors to today's spiritualists, originally making up a mere less than five percent of the world's population. Now inadvertently appearing in every continent, small communities just like Zenchou City have emerged as cultural omens, with some even renaming themselves to suit their growing population of Spiritualists. Some accept it, and most non-spiritually attuned people still try to live among them - but as their numbers increase, so does the majority of mundane uneased by the presence of spiritually-inclined, simply trying to live their lives alongside them.
A cast of albatrosses, varied between those who try to lead the mundane lives stripped from them from the moment they drew breath and those that utilize their inherent benefit for gain. Despite being forced to live their lives through the lense of pariahs, they are a generation of uncanny even amid the larger population of those that would be considered outcasts like them.
Freedom of Potential
Affinity
Specialization
Mechanically this is achieved through the creation of traditional custom perks, tending to be oriented toward 'unlocking' or 'empowering' a manner of an Affinity, and enhancing an existent quality of their Affinity to a small extent (improving the output on a pre-existing clause, applying a status effect etc.). Techniques generally can have their own conditional clauses relative to this application, if they were skewed toward the Affinity itself in effect; otherwise, generic blast/attack techniques can freely utilize them and conduct their passive qualities (such as a perk granting 'Shock' on electricity-based effects).
