Awareness Rules Empty Awareness Rules

Awareness

Characters have a base range of awareness of 30 Tiles. This means they hear, smell, and see with complete clarity in that radius. Techniques, abilities & effects, in general, are all subject to augment this, be it in general or toward specific objects / people in the case of stealth. Every Tier in a Sense grants +5 extra tiles of Awareness for that sense in particular.

Focus

A character who needs to spot something or someone out can Focus at the cost of an action on its initial activation. While this is in play, a singular Sense of theirs is increased by +1 in Tier toward anything that initiates a check on the sense in question, such as seeing a hidden item via. Sight.

Awareness Reduction

If a character’s Awareness is reduced, their effective Tiles for hearing/seeing/smelling in are reduced by the value as well (-5 Awareness = -5 Tiles). This can be combated by having higher-than-normal senses, which grants the following:
-- For every Tier a character has in a sense perk i.e. Sight, Hearing or Smell, they reduce overall Awareness Debuffs by -1. (Example: If you have Profound-Grade Sight, Hearing & Smell, Awareness debuffs are reduced by -12.)

Losing Awareness naturally causes you to lose reactivity to stimuli, as you can no longer detect it as easily. For every -2 points of Awareness drop a character suffers, they lose -1 Reflex. This can never exceed a total penalty of -50 Awareness, or -25 Reflex. There are things that supersede this upper limit, namely abilities, items & so forth that state they do not contribute to it - but they are rare.
