Marksman & Damage Stacking Empty Marksman & Damage Stacking

Marksman

As implied by the name, the Marksman perk governs interactions relative to the precision of characters. For the sake of accessibility, this thread addresses its effects and how they can help characters - primarily those who are most liable to interact with this perk line the most in combat.

Tiers

Whenever an effect refers to increasing your Marksman Tier, it influences the bonus you gain as well.

Tier 1:
(Gain one instance of 'Targeted' every two rounds. Can grant it once per round to any linear-moving small projectile, albeit not to actions with multiple hits.)
(Targeted: Apply a bonus of +1 based on the type of attack it is. Applies to Speed for physical, and Damage for spiritual.)
(Alternatively, user can sacrifice the statistic boon from a Targeted Action to elevate their Gesture Speed, applying the Bonus * 2 to said gesture.)
Tier 2:
(Gain one instance of 'Targeted' every two rounds. Can grant it once per round to any linear-moving projectile or attack not 1X1 or over in size, albeit not the same one several times. Multi-Hits allows 1 * Technique Grade number of hits to hit the same region.)
(Targeted: Apply a bonus of +3 based on the type of attack it is. Applies to Speed for physical, and Damage for spiritual.)
(Alternatively, user can sacrifice the statistic boon from a Targeted Action to elevate their Gesture Speed, applying the Bonus * 2 to said gesture.)
Tier 3
(Gain one instance of 'Targeted' every round. Can grant it once per round to any linear-moving projectile or attack not 1X1 or over in size, albeit not the same one several times. Multi-Hits allows 2 * Technique Grade number of hits to hit the same region.)
(Targeted: Apply a bonus of +5 based on the type of attack it is. Applies to Speed for physical, and Damage for spiritual.)
(Alternatively, user can sacrifice the statistic boon from a Targeted Action to elevate their Gesture Speed, applying the Bonus * 2 to said gesture.)
Tier 4
(Gain one instance of 'Targeted' every round. Can grant it once per round to any linear-moving projectile or attack not 1X1 or over in size, albeit not the same one several times. Multi-Hits allows 2 * Technique Grade number of hits to hit the same region.)
(Targeted: Apply a bonus of +7 based on the type of attack it is. Applies to Speed for physical, and Damage for spiritual.)
(Alternatively, user can sacrifice the statistic boon from a Targeted Action to elevate their Gesture Speed, applying the Bonus * 2 to said gesture.)

It is possible to influence all of the mechanics granted here, between how frequently you gain 'Targeted', the bonus of 'Targeted' and even the bonus gesture speed.

Damage Stacking

Damage Stacking occurs when a character successfully strikes the same exact injury that's been inflicted prior. This is only possible through a Targeted Action or sustained damage lingering in the same location (i.e. impalement, burn or grapples, which dictate their efficacy off of their Tier). Precision-based damage stacking scales off of Marksman.

Successfully stacking damage applies the Damage Dealt, directly to Damage Taken on an injury (capped at 10) previously inflicted on a character. If the overall Damage that injury sustained exceeds the cap previously applied to it, it pushes into the next; though this can only proc once per injury. Below is a breakdown on how frequently / effectively you can damage stack, based on a source's Tier:
T2: Only procs damage stacking on full hits. Can stack damage once per injury.
T3: Only procs damage stacking on full hits. Can stack damage twice per injury.
T4: Only procs damage stacking on full hits & grazes. Can stack damage twice per injury.

Note: Damage stacking is source-to-source; multiple individuals targeting the same wound will not stack damage on a wound together without Tag Specialist.
