The Toyotomi

Originally roving peasants, the Toyotomi through the years made their names known off of their impeccable fishing skills, and their tendency to battle for fishing spots. Despite how trivial the matter was they would commit to this - every last one of them, and would usually win if an actual fight took place. Oddballs from the very start, they fit right in with the culture average to the Soulborn. Their solving of issues through bout grew with their names. If they were insulted, they'd fight - if they were asked for directions, they'd fight. There was no other option logical in their minds if they perceived someone as a threat or worth fighting.

Their mundane qualities and origins forced them to battle their way to relevancy and acknowledgment until they were finally regarded as people of decent background and competence, leading them to where they are today.

People of dim expression that are succinct and to the point, the Toyotomi are the epitome of those hailing from Tasogare. They seem to always be displeased with themselves or others around them, and while the latter is well-muted, it reflects in their 'aura' whenever they are among their peers. These people keep to themselves, traveling across the Soul Plains expressly to search for 'disappearing lands' to meditate for days on end within. When they aren't in seclusion they are gloomily fighting others, insisting that it will be their final battle should their performance not be up to par. Surprisingly, not a single one has ever actually killed themselves after losing a bout or doing poorly in one, simply stating that it was the 'expected result'.

With the growth of their family's prestige, Toyotomi are noticeably lighter in mood - as if a great weight has been lifted off their backs now that they're being acknowledged. It is not uncommon to see these individuals smiling in the more recent decades or making an attempt at social interaction.

Common Info

Patriarch: Toyotomi Kamon, the Third Head
Date Founded: 11 Centuries Ago
Nationality: Nihon-Jin

Behavior

Centuries spent in seclusion training have birthed social awkwardness in these individuals. They tend to miss cues and are blunt in some of their opinions - sometimes to a fault. Despite that, they seem to linger around those whom they interact with and genuinely make an effort to stick around or get more familiarized with their peers. Members more acquainted with socialization bear a joking callousness to them and genuine comfort around other Soulborn, seeming to view their likeminded, battle-absorbed fellows as genuine comrades rather than rivals. It is rare to see a Toyotomi genuinely flustered as opposed to just depressive or stoic, but when that particular passion oozes from them it is indiscriminate as it is violent.

Relations

Park (Low): Find the Toyotomi very dull.
Xun (HIGH): Consider them boring, but find their battle spirit and will to improve 'absolutely voracious'. They only like members of the Toyotomi on the battlefield.
Wang Clan (MAX): The ultimate 'battle apes' that usually die taking out several with them. Members of the Miyaki are always trying to recruit a Toyotomi into their band for expeditions.
Sungyoon Timber (HIGH): Their recent heir has been continually purchasing lumber, which both intrigues & pleases the company. They acknowledge the Toyotomi as good tradesmen and decent conversationalists that are surprisingly more versed in topics of wood and nature than they let on.

Tasogare (MAX): Unofficial representatives of the 'Tasogare Way'. Most Soulborn that go to this town believe they can become like the Toyotomi, for better or for worse.
City of Sparkles (Neutral): Residents usually try to cheer these guys up, just to get annoyed that they can't. Find it enjoyable to see them fighting though, since that's usually when members of this family are happy.

Appearance

Plain & hollow-eyed, bright colors are the antithesis of those from the Toyotomi. They have no defining tone to their hair or eye hues that aren't mossy and/or dark, and their clothing tends to reflect this same practice. They are fans of heavier garb like cloaks or robes - anything that can obfuscate their body decently. Accessories are very uncommon with these individuals, as is armor - with the only exception being their recent prodigal talent that has opted to follow in the Black Mist Blade's footsteps.

Abilities

Senritsu: Toyotomi are the only clan that have come to express Projection all in common with one another despite bearing different affinities. They are aficionados at altering their basal, raw reiryoku to be more gaseous and solid in its color foundation, utilizing their affinity as a blueprint for expressions of smoke or obfuscating mist honed upon their blades. Their reiatsu tends to naturally show itself as dark as their wardrobe as well, aiding in the efficacy of this ability.
Hazeus Swelter: The permeation of Senritsu from themselves. Dubbing some of the more stealth-apt Toyotomi as rivals to the Den of Stalkers as a result of the effectiveness of this ability, the Hazeus Swelter is as strong a utility as it is an offense in the hands of the right affinity, and has been demonstrated as a means to extend the reach of their concealed attacks.
