Geniuses of Spiritual Way, the Minamoto

Prestigious in the yesteryears of Soulborn history, the Minamoto were originally a popular figure, especially during the rise of factions such as the Projector's Guild. They were known for their exemplary talents in the way of Kido, and among all of the longstanding families they have the lowest recorded mortality of their members. Their names started becoming known across the Soul Plains with their introduction as talents that would pursue and assassinate, though over the years the number of Minamoto that 'subscribed' to this sort of specialty thinned to nill.

Following the more civil rises among the Soul Plains, however, they suddenly faded into obscurity, only occasionally emerging within more remote locations of the Soul Plains. Viewed with unease and scorn by the more organized - especially the CIties to the East, they are recluses by proxy of their infamy, though the fables of what they are capable of still occasionally are sung praise by peasant souls & spiritually competent Soulborn alike, especially those from the Projector's Guild.


Apathetic at heart, Minamoto generally keep to themselves and go out of their way to remain out of contact with others. They get along with those that they do interact with, surprisingly, and seem to boast a strong sense of understanding of others' emotions and how to play into them. The mystery behind their bad reputation only brings further questions due to their seemingly genuine nature and the benevolence that tends to accentuate their seldom-spoken words, though their seamless evasion of these things - compounded with them lacking any admission or true denial of what surrounds their name only harms their peculiar case. Regardless, it appears these individuals seem unperturbed by such - and stay devoted to the craft that they wish to remain focused on; the refinement of their spiritual abilities.

Park (MAX): Strangely favoring of the Minamoto, even if the family does not acknowledge them in the slightest.
Lu (Like): Tend to run into hermitting family members. Sometimes duel them. It is proclaimed that the Lu's win ratio is 7:3 in favor of the Minamoto, with such a report only being possible because the soft-spoken members of this clan often spare them.
Toyotomi (HATE): It's on sight.

Tasogare (Neutral): Tend to receive visitors matching the description of this family's people. They do not partake in the culture that the town subscribes to, strangely.
Towns (Neutral): Sometimes see Soulborn that match the appearance of a traditional Minamoto. They always seem to avoid trouble - and even those that run into it seem to fend for themselves just fine.

Favorers of the color purple, down to their very hair color. To see a Minamoto without some shade of purple in their hair is to not see a true Minamoto, rare as they may be as is. Traditionalists in nature, Minamoto commonly accentuate themselves with the garbs of Nihon-jin, especially of the noble variety. They tend to wear sweeping kimonos or Hanten jackets for men, expressing a variety of colors & resplendence, and seldom shy from wearing small bangles, rings, or other small accessories either. It is rare to ever see a Minamoto unacquainted with a scribed tag of some sort, be it worn upon their hip at the ready or held within their hands, leaning them heavily into Kido.

Refined Aura: The auras of Minamoto have been explicitly described as sharp, and having an easier time cutting into what they establish contact with. It is also stated that they can maintain the flow of their reiryoku externally across broad ranges for far longer than normal, showcasing a heightened understanding of Projection. Their reiatsu has no distinguished color shared across the family, though.
Area: Minamoto have been said to implement the use of 'Projection' into Kido, a feat never demonstrated across centuries of the practice beyond simply fueling the tags. The few Soulborn that have interacted with members state that they were told by a Minamoto that they 'connect it', only for the Minamoto to just wriggle their fingers about oddly. When asked for a name for such a thing, they were told it was an Area.
Domain: In all the years of odd history surrounding the Minamoto, the only recorded feat of theirs was displayed during an exchange with the Toyotomi, and dubbed 'Domain'. With it, a slew of Toyotomi members were downed in what seemed like a singular slash from an uncanny distance.
