Time & Travel Empty Time & Travel

Fri Mar 15, 2024 7:35 am

Timescales

Basic:
Every turn in combat a character takes can last up to 6 seconds*.
Every 1 OOC Day is 4 IC Days.
*: Turns are generally much shorter, depending on the circumstance (short versus long-range). For especially fast combatants, such as those throwing out near or past 100 stats in terms of Action Speed(s), this tends to EASILY lower to below a second, if not milliseconds for truly high-end characters.

Travel

*Note: You do not need to wait the OOC times listed here.
It should be also noted that travel while injured can grievously worsen your condition, especially depending on how you do so. This is a case-by-case basis that's determined from situation to situation per an administrator's decision. It is not advised to travel on your own feet while injured unless you want to potentially die in the process of an attempt, if it's not the absolute bare minimum of travel (i.e. city to town).

40 OOC Hours - Around an IC week. The equivalent of going halfway across a country's distance. A common practice in the Living Realm if leaving Zenchou for business - and in the Soul Plains if visiting different families & their manors.
9 OOC Hours - IC Day and a half. Traveling from one noteworthy settlement to another. Given the small setting, that'll be rare.
3 OOC Hours - Half an IC Day. Going from a settlement to a nearby city on foot.
1 OOC Hour - Quarter of an IC Day. The equivalent of going from one major landmark to another in a decently large city.

Every 25 Base Speed you have reduces the time required by 1 OOC Hour.
Plenty of different things like items, techniques, perks & mounts can all help with your effective Speed for travel.

Arrival

If your wait time is effectively '0', you only need about an IC hour or two to arrive from one whole location to another. This essentially guarantees that you cannot participate in any currently active Engagements, but it can set you up for encountering involved parties after the fact. Please bear in mind that this does not pertain to going from one location to another if your 'point A' and 'point B' are in the same city or area.

Speedy Arrival [B-Rank+]
If you have -6 or less hour wait, you can reach a location of combat within three rounds. This is a three-paragraph/roleplay feat, and generally a flex tool that lets you get to fights.
