Skill Rank

If you've played these games before you've probably seen this system plenty of times. This thread covers its relevance here, the 'level' you're at in the world reaching these certain levels, and what you can expect regarding what's available to you.

The Scale

Daiichi follows the traditional D ~ S system. More often than not you can expect to see your perceived 'peaks' in different fields far sooner than the later ranks, though. Given the world state is just emerging from a period of weakness spent establishing footholds, allies & enemies alike in this world will grow alongside most characters, save for the few exceptions who started above.

D-Rank: Where most characters start. You've normally just harnessed your Armament, Initial Release, or affinity in general and have a rudimentary grasp of your racial abilities. This is the level that any ordinary individual is at at the beginning of your 'stories'.
C-Rank: Seasoned individuals that have started making a name for themselves. They are above the mark of the average individual and have a pretty strong understanding of what their affiliation and/or their race is capable of, but there are still things that they do not know about the world or even the people they affiliate with. It is where lower-rate leaders and higher-rate lieutenants stand, and begin to seek out the mysteries of the world.
B-Rank: To be at this level during this early age is uncanny. Either a prodigy or someone hardened by years of battle, these characters are at the world's current peak. This is where you can expect to have fully grasped your race's abilities, be it the likes of the Soulborn's Final Release, the Adept's Apotheosis or the Spiritualist's Awakening. Anyone who's here at the start of the wipe is an anomaly, as even among event characters there's no more than ten of these in existence.
A-Rank: No one is at this level. Rarer affinities tend to start being able to fully exploit their feats at this level, previously restrained from it due to their complexity. Characters of this level can veritably pose a threat to many and have most likely mastered several fields.
S-Rank: ???.

There are also no longer any minuses or pluses to these.

Requisites

The requirements for things and where your Skill Rank is at are pretty cut & dry:

D-Rank characters can acquire T2 and below Perks + C-Rank and below techniques.
C-Rank characters gain access to T3s and B-Ranks.
B-Rank characters gain access to T4s and A-Ranks.
A-Rank characters gain access to T5s and S-Ranks.

Characters with Mentor allow their students/disciples to learn a Rank/Tier above what they normally can.
